Ocean County educators Bridgit Lapierre Valgenti, Victoria Hay and Lizabeth Murphy from the Jackson Township School District as well as Gail McLaughlin, a retired educator from Monmouth County, were awarded a $5,560 grant to carry out a project to build on the success of the school’s second-hand shop. This project will create a Fashion Club for students to explore their creativity and develop new, marketable skills by altering the donated clothing and creating new looks for themselves and their classmates. The projects will be student-driven, depending on their interests, but could include embroidery, sewing, fabric painting, and more.
