Monmouth County educator Josh Langenberger was awarded a $5,793 grant to create an in-school Sensory Shelter. According to research, the number of children in the U.S. suffering from anxiety and depression spiked by nearly 26% before the pandemic. In the years since, we know that students are suffering at even higher rates. This project will create a sensory shelter to provide a self-directed retreat within the classroom to accommodate students’ social and emotional needs. It will also assist the increasing number of students with diagnoses of ADHD.
