NJEA and NEA endorse Rep. Andy Kim for U.S. Senate

On the recommendation of NJEA’s PAC Operating Committee, the NEA Fund for Children and Public Education has endorsed Rep. Andy Kim for election to the United States Senate.

Rep. Kim has represented New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District since 2018. During that time he has distinguished himself as an advocate for working families and public education. He is a proud New Jersey public school graduate. His own parents immigrated to America and settled in New Jersey because they knew that he and his sibling would get a great education and have a chance at a better future.

He shares our values and believes strongly in public education and labor.  With a 100% voting record on NJEA and NEA issues, Congressman Kim is a leader we can count on.   As a Representative, he has helped introduce legislation to clean up politics, protect our elections and restore voting rights. An advocate for all, he co-wrote legislation that was passed into law to protect seniors from unaffordable prescription drug costs and expand coverages under Medicare.

Rep. Kim has pledged to continue the work he has done in Congress over the last six years when he is elected to the United States Senate. That includes a laser focus on strengthening our democracy. As a Senator, he will work to protect civil and human rights, to strengthen our fragile democracy and to restore strong ethics and accountability to government.

He understands the staffing crisis our schools are facing and believes the federal government can help address it through innovative programs and funding. He is the public education champion New Jersey families need representing them in Washington.

NJEA’s officers, President Sean M. Spiller, Vice President Steve Beatty and Secretary-Treasurer Petal Robertson issued this statement in support of Kim:

“Rep. Andy Kim has been an outstanding representative for the people of New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. A proud graduate of New Jersey’s public schools, he truly stands for the values and ideals that we all work to instill in our students: pride in themselves, pride in our country, and a deep dedication to doing what is right, regardless of what everyone else may be doing. He will be a staunch advocate for public education in the U.S. Senate and will undoubtedly make all of us here in New Jersey proud to have him representing us, alongside Sen. Cory Booker.”

This endorsement was made by the National Education Association’s (NEA) Fund for Children and Public Education, which makes endorsements in federal elections.
