Food Service Town Hall
A Conversation with NEA Food Service Members
Event Description
When Donald Trump froze federal funding on Jan. 27, school meal programs were thrown into immediate jeopardy. While the courts have temporarily blocked his efforts, Trump continues to fight for these cuts. But he doesn’t need to win in court to create food insecurity—Republicans in Congress have openly declared their intent to slash funding for school meals, alongside SNAP and many other important programs in current budget battles.
NEA food service members will be on the frontlines of this crisis. They will be the ones facing hungry children, sometimes having to say, “Sorry, you can’t have the same meal as your classmates.”
We must take action—and it starts with a conversation. NEA will be hosting a series of virtual town hall meetings for food service members across the country, starting on Thursday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. We invite all members and staff who care about our students to join in this important conversation!
