Camden County educators Lauren Doyle and Dana Pilla, from the Cherry Hill Public School District, were awarded a $9,961 grant to carry out a project to build student-led service learning projects that engage student leaders with their classmates and the greater community including area community groups, around themes such as environmental justice, the impact of community gardens and nutrition on communities, showing kindness and compassion to those in need, and raising awareness for literacy initiatives. This grant has been designated as the Jack Bertolino Grant for its focus on social studies and civics. Jack Bertolino was a beloved NJEA director, staff member, and teacher who passed away. This grant recognizes his commitment to public service.
