Juan Cartagena, Esquire is the former president and general counsel for the Latino Justice PRLDEF. Mr. Cartagena previously served as a municipal court judge in Hoboken, N.J. and as general counsel for the Hispanic Bar Association of NJ. Mr. Cartagena is one of the nation’s leading voices on equality and non-discrimination, constitutional and civil rights, working tirelessly over the course of his career litigating on behalf of minority communities in such varied areas as housing, education, voting rights and employee discrimination. Attorney Cartagena continues to inspire change to systems that marginalize communities of color.

Hispanic Reference Collection – The Hispanic Reference Collection is an English and Spanish language research level collection aimed at the special needs and scholars, enabling them to conduct in-depth research into New Jersey’s diverse Hispanic community. The references consist of newspaper collections, clippings and oral histories.
