Apply for a tree-planting grant for your school or college

The Trees for Schools program is awarding $4.5 million in grants to New Jersey public school districts, county and state colleges, and universities to support tree planting on campuses statewide.

Competitive grants of $10,000 to $250,000 will fund costs associated with planning, site preparation, trees, planting, watering, monitoring and related expenses over a three-year period.

Previous recipients of Trees for Schools grants are not eligible. Applications are due on May 13, 2025, for spring 2026 plantings.

The Sustainability Institute at The College of New Jersey in collaboration with Sustainable Jersey, administers the program with support from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Learn more at sustainablejerseyschools.com.
