MOC to view “Freedom Riders” at New Brunswick Performing Arts Center
Join us on their journey to prove that love and compassion could conquer hate, and that what was a right for one American must be a right for all Americans.
Event Description
On May 4, 1961, a group of young people — men and women, black and white, from colleges and universities across the country with different backgrounds — boarded two buses southbound from Washington, DC.
Their mission: to desegregate the American transportation system and promote equal rights. It was dangerous, life-threatening work. This world premiere production shares the stories of those courageous and dedicated young people.
Join us on their journey to prove that love and compassion could conquer hate, and that what was a right for one American must be a right for all Americans. With twelve multi-talented performers, this highly theatrical, physical, visceral form of musical play aims to tell this historic story set in a 1960’s folk and Motown musical soundtrack.
