Each school district shall ensure a temperature-controlled school environment.

Districts will strive to keep temperatures in occupied rooms between 68 and 79 F.

When temperatures are below 63 or above 89 F, staff and students are to be relocated.

The Department of Health must inspect any school from which students and staff were relocated more than twice in a school year to ensure that the facility meets state indoor air quality standards.

Schools will implement feasible short-term measures when heat is excessive, such as limiting student athletic activity, and using fans and air conditioners.

Schools will implement feasible long -term measures for excessive heat, such as the installation of energy-efficient windows, increasing shade in front of windows, and the installation of cooling equipment.

Schools will implement feasible short-term measures for excessive cold, such as space heaters.

Schools will implement feasible long-term measures for excessive cold, such as the installation of permanent heating equipment and energy-efficient windows, and enhancing the maintenance of heating equipment.
