Camden County educator Christina Dooling from Pine Hill School District, was awarded a $9,718 grant to carry out a project at Pine Hill Middle School in Pine Hill.
Project team members, which include science, technology, math, and art teachers, will seek professional development opportunities to understand the function and potential applications of different forms of technology. Students will then be recruited to aid in the design and implementation of the STEAM Community Night.
Students will take a STEAM/school activity survey to determine exposure to STEAM curriculum and interest in STEAM careers.
Student leaders will decide if they wish to run an existing station or research an additional station to design and implement. Stations available include: 1. Planetarium presentation, 2. Bloxels, 3. Bristlebots, 4. Ozobot Coding for Beginners, 5. Ozobot Advanced Coding, 6. Recycled Fashion Station, and additional student-researched stations.
The day of the event, students will preview some of the highlights of the STEAM stations for students at the elementary schools to stir interest in attending. The event, which is open to the public, will include refreshments and giveaways.
