NJDOE announces changes in mSGP weight for summative evaluations

Late on August 31, the NJDOE released a statement that there would be a change in the weight of median student growth percentile (mSGP) scores for teachers of tested subjects for the 2016-17 school year. Returning to the 2013-2014 school year’s weights, the mSGP score will account for 30% of a teacher’s summative evaluation. Student Growth Objective (SGO) scores will continue to account for 15% of the evaluation for teachers in both tested and non-tested subjects. Learn more

NJDOE proposes regulatory changes on evaluation

Over the last few months, the N.J. Department of Education (NJDOE) has proposed several key changes to the teacher evaluation regulations. NJEA expects the State Board to adopt these amendments in December. While they have not yet been adopted, the NJDOE is advising districts that they should begin putting most of the regulations into practice beginning in September. Learn more
