Testimonials

Schuyler School

During a school visit, the Cat posed for a picture with students at Schuyler School.

Thank you for the wonderful program that was presented to our 1st grade students on Thursday, February 24, 2014.  They truly enjoyed your visit, and we love your very generous donation of “The Sneetches” to our Media Center. We appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to our students and hope you will visit us again next year.

The School Number Ten family sends a special thank you to NJEA for selecting us this year to receive an awesome visit from the Cat in the Hat. Our pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first graders enjoyed meeting the Cat in the Hat. They were excited to have their hat on as they shook hands and greeted the friendly Cat. We took lots of pictures, a few were featured in our District Hi Lites. The excitement from this wonderful kick-off to Read Across America allowed for so many activities involving Dr. Seuss and his classic stories. Our students will continue to pay tribute during the entire month by visiting classes and reading to students in the lower grades. We look forward to future visits from The Cat in the Hat. Thanks again for allowing the students of School Number Ten this exciting opportunity.

On behalf of the Mount Prospect School kindergarten classes, I would like to thank you for selecting our school to receive a visit from the Cat in the Hat. The students were very excited having the Cat in the Hat in their classrooms. The visit was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and the students are eagerly awaiting Read Across America Day.

Our school appreciated being selected to receive a visit from The Cat in the Hat on February 25, 2014, which Carmen Schultz-Reilly won for the school. We appreciate Mrs. Jean Carl traveling to our school and making an appearance as The Cat in the Hat.  Our students certainly enjoyed the excitement of the Cat in the Hat’s visit and being able to add a special touch to celebrating Dr. Seuss all week long and add to their Read Across America activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for making it possible for the Cat in the Hat to visit Manito Elementary School on Tuesday, February 25. The children had an awesome time with him and we are so excited to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss next week! It was a wonderful experience for all and we are truly appreciative.

-- Mrs. Kathleen Woodward, Manito Elementary School, Oakland

Through the efforts of Pre-K teacher, Michelle Solowinski, School No. 1 Pre-k was the recipient of a grant allowing the Cat in the Hat to visit our school today, February 20, 2014.  This helped to kick off our commemoration of Read Across America which will take place March 3-7.  Children wished the Cat in the Hat a Happy Birthday/Feliz Cumpleanos for Dr. Seuss, in English and Spanish, and were eager to shake hands with the infamous character.

-- Judy Trawinski, Assistant Principal, Thomas Jefferson School #1, Vincent Capuana School #15, Passaic City

What a wonderful experience we had with our special visitor.  The Cat made his appearance on February 29.  He was greeted by 375 excited K-2 students.  Due to a scheduling error, we had to have the children in the gymnasium, but he went around and shook hands with as many children as he could.  He took pictures with many of our students and our principal, Maria Santa (who was dressed in black, white and red and wore the Cat in the Hat’s hat).  Thank you NJEA and retired staff for making this program possible.  Our staff and especially our students loved it.

--Cathleen Cahn, PS#5, Paterson

Thank you so much for coming to visit our little ones this week! They were beaming still as they left for the day. Even our reticent students who don't say much in front of us, to their parents' surprise, were quite vocal about the mischievous deeds that the Cat did in their classroom that day! Thank you also for the gift of the Dr. Seuss book! It is a perfect reminder of your visit!

- Valerie Mattes, Washington Township
