Nominate a teacher or ESP who “rocks” or “makes magic”

Once again, NJEA has partnered with Greater Media New Jersey for the Teachers Who Rock/Teachers Who Make Magic program. These programs recognize 72 outstanding teachers and three Educational Support Professionals in New Jersey who are making a difference in their schools and communities.

Teachers Who RockStarting December 20, 2013, winning teachers and their stories will be announced on air each Friday on WMGQ 98.3 FM, WDHA 105.5 FM, WMTR 1250 AM, WRAT 95.9 FM, and WJRZ 100.1 FM.

Each honoree will also be recognized at an awards banquet in April 2014 where their stories will be read, and they will receive an award and special gift bag.


In order to be considered for a Garden State Teacher Award, a teacher or ESP must first be nominated by a colleague, parent, student, administrator, or anyone else with knowledge of the individual’s contributions. Self-nominations are not accepted.  The nomination period will be from December 1, 2013 through March 25, 2014.  Greater Media New Jersey “Teachers Committee” will select 72 teachers and three ESPs from the final nominations. The winners will be announced, on a rolling basis, each Friday on five Greater Media New Jersey radio stations, from December 20, 2013 through March 28, 2014. 

Honorees from Middlesex, Somerset, Union, Hunterdon, and Mercer Counties will be announced on Magic 98.3.

Honorees from Morris, Union, Warren, Sussex, Passaic, and Essex Counties will be announced on WDHS 105.5 FM and WMTR 1250 AM.

Honorees from Monmouth, Ocean, and Burlington Counties will be announced on WRAT 95.9 FM and WJRZ 100.1 FM.
