Steinhauer: Sweeney pension proposal deserves close look

NJEA President Wendell Steinhauer issued this statement following a press conference at which Senate President Steve Sweeney proposed the creation of a federal pension loan program to help states improve their pension funding levels. “We are glad that Senate President Sweeney continues to explore every possible option for helping New Jersey responsibly meet its pension obligations. As the Senator noted, this does not change the need for New Jersey to meet its current pension obligations immediately.
