“Provides for voluntary contributions to support Special Olympics USA Games.”
NJEA is proud to support S-1855 (Sweeney, Kean) / A-3491 (Burzichelli, Greenwald, Benson, Webber). This legislation would support New Jersey athletes participating in the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games by allowing for voluntary contributions on gross income tax returns to be placed in the “2014 NJ Special Olympics Home Team Fund,’ in the Department of Treasury.
Special Olympics is an organization that enhances lives by empowering people with intellectual disabilities to participate in year-round sports training and athletic competition. Through athletic competition and educational programs, it serves to build confidence, courage and friendships. In 2014, New Jersey will host the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games in Mercer County with an estimated 3,500 athletes scheduled to compete. The money designated will help fund the training of participating athletes.
NJEA believes in advocating for legislation that supports all of New Jersey’s students, particularly those with special abilities. That is why we urge you to vote YES on S-1855 / A-3491.
